Episode #43 – Crimes in Southern Indiana

Buckle up, we’re going on a road trip!

Well, that’s what we would have told you lovely listeners if we had room in Richard Thomas’ van to take you on our recent trip to Corydon Indiana. But Richard’s van doesn’t seat thousands, so you’ll have to settle for hearing about the trip right here, right now.

We also review the short story collection Crimes in Southern Indiana by Frank Bill. Packed with the best in literary violence – CISI sucks you in. Check out our thoughts below.

We also talk a bit about the Podcast Awards, some new Stitcher features, and invite you to chat with us over on Facebook about the potential “Netflix for books” that Amazon is talking about doing. Listen and learn. We tell you what to read.

  1. Indiana, as the south? That news to me. I’ll have to go back and check out the Mason-Dixon Line.

  2. Haha. Well, it was only a 20 minute drive to Louisville, so I think Corydon can count as the south. At least to a Chicago native such as myself.

In Illinois, anybody south of the middle of the state has about a 70% chance of talking with a traditional southern accent. So it may defy geography a bit, but these midwestern states do embrace the spirit of the south.

    • I suppose that when Muddy Waters took the blues to Chicago, he carried the southern thing with him. Some down this way wish the midwestern states would have embraced the spirit of the south back in 1861. Love Chicago.

  3. Research shows that 73% of all the Booked listeners either is a girl or hits like a girl.
